Indoor Staff Tracking System: LoRa, BLE, 4G and SOS Personnel Safety Solution

An indoor staff tracking system is designed for factories, warehouses, mines, hospitals, construction sites, underground facilities and industrial campuses. Because GPS signals are weak or unavailable inside buildings, a reliable solution should combine GNSS outdoor positioning with BLE indoor location recognition, LoRa communication and 4G backhaul.

Jinshengchang Technology provides an integrated system consisting of staff tracking badges, BLE beacons, LoRa gateways, the lora8 IoT platform and Android/iOS applications.

Core System Components

  1. Staff tracking badge: Supports BLE, LoRa, GNSS, 4G, SOS, NFC, motion sensors and tamper detection.
  2. BLE beacons: Installed in rooms, corridors, production areas and restricted zones to identify indoor locations.
  3. LoRa gateways: Receive badge data and forward it through Ethernet, Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
  4. lora8 IoT platform: Manages live locations, maps, alarms, tracks, geofences and devices.
  5. Mobile applications and API: Provide remote monitoring and integration with customer systems.

Required Functions

  • Real-time personnel location;

  • Room-level or zone-level indoor positioning;

  • SOS emergency alarms;

  • Restricted-area entry and exit alarms;

  • Long-stay alerts in hazardous areas;

  • Fall, impact and no-motion detection;

  • Historical route playback;

  • Low-battery and offline alerts;

  • Attendance and zone-duration reports;

  • Multi-floor electronic maps;

  • Role-based platform permissions.

Layout Requirements

BLE beacons should be installed at entrances, rooms, corridor intersections, elevators, stairways and hazardous zones. LoRa gateways should be positioned where they can provide reliable uplink coverage.

Factories and warehouses require special radio testing because metal machinery, shelves and stored goods can affect signal propagation. Multi-floor buildings should use separate location identifiers for each floor. Mines and underground areas should include backup power, offline caching and gateway-disconnection alarms.

The required number of beacons and gateways cannot be calculated from floor area alone. Wall materials, ceiling height, metal obstruction, location accuracy and transmission intervals must also be considered.
