Managing cattle across a large ranch can be difficult when cellular coverage is weak or animals move through remote grazing areas. A LoRa cattle collar combines GNSS positioning with long-range, low-power communication, helping ranchers locate livestock, monitor grazing zones and identify animals that may have left the herd.

How does a LoRa cattle collar work?

The collar obtains location data through GPS, BeiDou or another GNSS constellation. It then transmits the data through LoRa or LoRaWAN to a gateway installed on the ranch. The gateway forwards the information to the lora8 IoT platform through 4G, Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

Escape and separation alerts

The system can help identify cattle that have moved away from the herd, remained stationary for an unusual period or stopped reporting data. These alerts support ranch management but should not be treated as a substitute for veterinary diagnosis.

Historical movement records

Historical routes help users locate missing cattle, review grazing patterns and determine whether gateway coverage or water-point placement should be improved.

Device management

Battery level, signal quality, last communication time and device status can be monitored from a central dashboard.
