LoRaWAN R&D Company in China: Jinshengchang’s Eight-Month Development of LoRa Tracking Hardware
Shenzhen Jinshengchang Technology Co., Ltd. is a China-based LoRaWAN R&D company specializing in low-power positioning hardware, IoT platforms and customized tracking solutions. To create a practical product family suitable for livestock management, personnel safety and asset tracking, our engineering team spent eight months developing and optimizing three key products: the LoRa livestock collar, LoRa electronic personnel badge and LoRa tracking locator.
This project was not limited to assembling existing modules. It covered product definition, PCB design, antenna matching, firmware development, power-consumption optimization, enclosure engineering, LoRa communication testing, GPS positioning integration, platform connectivity and field verification.
Why did the R&D process take eight months?
LoRa tracking equipment must balance communication range, positioning frequency, battery life, device size and environmental reliability. Increasing the GPS reporting frequency provides more location points but consumes more power. A higher LoRa transmission power can improve coverage but may reduce battery life and must comply with regional frequency regulations.
During the eight-month development cycle, Jinshengchang engineers repeatedly adjusted:
LoRa transmission power and communication intervals
GPS acquisition and sleep strategies
Antenna position and RF matching
Battery capacity and charging management
Offline data storage and retransmission logic
Geofence, SOS and low-battery alarm rules
Device-to-gateway and gateway-to-platform communication
Enclosure structure, waterproofing and installation methods
The products can be adapted to regional LoRaWAN frequency plans, including EU868, US915, AU915, AS923, IN865 and other project-specific bands.
LoRa livestock collar
The LoRa livestock collar is designed for cattle, sheep and other grazing animals. It can combine GNSS positioning with long-range, low-power LoRa communication. Compared with a tracker that relies entirely on cellular communication, a LoRa collar is particularly suitable for farms that can deploy their own gateways and need to manage large numbers of animals.
Key functions may include:
Scheduled GPS positioning
Livestock location and historical routes
Multiple virtual geofences
Boundary-crossing and escape alerts
Low-battery warnings
Activity monitoring
Collar-removal detection
Offline location storage
Solar-assisted charging options
API and private-platform integration
Jinshengchang can customize the collar’s PCB, battery, enclosure, positioning intervals, alarm logic, communication protocol and platform functions according to the farm’s coverage area and management requirements.
LoRa electronic personnel badge
The LoRa electronic badge is developed for factories, industrial parks, warehouses, construction sites, mines and lone-worker safety applications. It is more than an identity badge: it can serve as a low-power personnel positioning and emergency communication terminal.
Depending on the project, it can support SOS alarms, indoor and outdoor positioning, geofencing, attendance-related integration, low-battery alerts and historical route records. LoRa provides long-range alarm transmission, while GPS, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi-assisted technologies can be selected according to indoor and outdoor positioning requirements.
When an employee presses the SOS button, the alarm can be transmitted to the management platform with identity, time and available location information, helping the control center respond more quickly.
LoRa tracking locator
The LoRa tracking locator is designed for mobile assets, tools, trailers, logistics containers, agricultural machinery and other equipment. The hardware can be customized with magnetic installation, screw mounting, anti-removal detection, waterproof housing or external power input.
Its firmware can be configured for periodic reporting, movement-triggered reporting, sleep mode, abnormal movement alarms and geofence alerts. If the LoRa network is temporarily unavailable, location records can be stored locally and uploaded after communication is restored.
Software platform and OEM/ODM development
Hardware is only one part of a complete tracking system. Jinshengchang also develops platform connectivity, device management, alarm processing, electronic fences, trajectory playback, account permissions and API interfaces.
We provide OEM/ODM services covering:
Requirement analysis and solution planning
PCB and embedded firmware development
LoRaWAN frequency and protocol adaptation
GPS and multi-source positioning integration
Enclosure and installation customization
Logo, packaging and interface customization
Mobile application and web-platform integration
API/SDK support, testing and pilot production
Actual positioning accuracy, communication distance and battery life depend on the deployment environment, gateway density, reporting interval, satellite visibility and selected battery configuration. Before mass production, we recommend conducting a field test under the real operating conditions.
