OEM LoRaWAN Smart Badge for Employee Tracking and Worker Safety

An OEM LoRaWAN smart badge is more than an employee identification card. It can combine personnel identification, indoor location, SOS emergency alarms, attendance records, restricted-area control, and worker-safety monitoring in one low-power wearable device.

The solution is suitable for factories, warehouses, hospitals, mines, construction sites, chemical plants, schools, industrial parks, and other locations where organizations need to manage many employees, contractors, visitors, or lone workers.

How Does the LoRaWAN Smart Badge Work?

Each badge is assigned to a specific employee or visitor. It transmits identity, location-zone, alarm, battery, and device-status information through a LoRaWAN gateway. The gateway then sends the data to a local or cloud-based management platform through Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or 4G.

Because GPS signals are normally weak inside buildings, the badge can combine LoRaWAN with Bluetooth beacons, Wi-Fi, RFID, GNSS, or UWB. Bluetooth beacons installed at entrances, production areas, corridors, floors, warehouses, and dangerous zones help the system identify the employee’s latest known area.

The final positioning accuracy depends on the selected technology, beacon density, building materials, radio interference, and project budget. A site survey and field test are therefore recommended before deployment.
